It's been a little over three years since we've been to Texas and thought how nice it would be to spend Thanksgiving with Steve's family. It was an easy flight and the kids did amazingly well. Once we arrived the kids had a special gift waiting for them on their beds.

New PJ's with matching dolls. How cute is that?!

It was nice to be out in the sun and walk around Lake Austin.

Ayla and Holden got to spend quality time with their cousins. It was the first time Holden has met his cousins. The girls are a couple months apart and played so well together. The boys enjoyed playing games on the IPad. A week together created a lifetime of memories.

Steve's brother invited us to go "shooting" with him. This is not to be mistaken with shooting hoops because we all know I would take em' down! We're talking guns people! Real guns with real bullets.
Please wait a moment while I take a Xanax and freak out a little.
I wasn't sure how I was going to handle this. I was nervous and wanted to sit in the ski lodge and drink hot cocoa but that wasn't an option considering the gun range looked like we were in the middle of the Nevada desert wondering if we will be able to find our way back.
Steve's brother is an expert weapons handler and taught us how to position our body, grip, and safely handle a gun. I felt somewhat safe knowing he was extremely skilled at this but couldn't help my reservation about even touching a weapon. The boys went first and naturally, because they're boys, was enjoying it. It was fun watching Steve, his brother, and dad bonding together and doing something one of them was passionate about.

As they are shooting paper plates and targets I was cool with standing by the car. My sister-in-law got in on the action and had her way with a shotgun.

Then it was my turn.
Please wait a moment while I shit myself
I had to man up. I was after all in Texas. I have to admit it was pretty fun. It wasn't so much handling a gun but more about targeting the center of that paper plate.

Go ahead. Say it. I look Bad Ass. Like I should be on CSI!
One of the evenings we traveled to a small quaint town called Johnson City to look at their Christmas lights. The courthouse was beautifully lit along with the rest of the city.

Pedernales Electric Company in Johnson City had the most incredible holiday light display we have ever seen. The property was surrounded with these gorgeous trees all which had lights on them creating a breathtaking display. I could have sat under those trees all night it felt so magical.

Our Thanksgiving was spent with all of Steve's family. My mother-in-law did an amazing job with cooking a delicious meal. Time around the table with family was enjoyable. We are so thankful for the family we have and are blessed to have shared in this holiday with them.

Our visit to the Lone Star State wouldn't be complete without visiting San Antonio. The Riverwalk is a must see and do in San Antonio. Amazing! We had to take the kids to see the Alamo. Why they built the Alamo in the middle of the city is beyond me! Just kidding! A little family inside joke.

Ending our vacation right...Armadillo ridin' y'all!
