Steve gets up at 5 every morning and heads off to work and doesn't get home until 5. Me, being a domestic goddess, usually has dinner ready for him when he gets home. Well last night I had plans to have dinner with a girlfriend and Steve was ok with eating leftover pot roast. I on the other hand went to a fabulous restaurant on the waterfront and had myself a scrumptious meal. Took my time, had great conversion and even enjoyed a desert. I came home and the house was scented with the wonderful smell of "clean". I was greeted by Steve with the toilet bowl brush and a sweaty kiss. I asked him what he's been up to since I've been gone and this is how it went:
Steve: "I didn't do much just, mopped the entire house, vacuumed the entire house, put new locks on all 3 sliding doors, put shelves up in the nursery, cleaned all the toilets, wiped down all the counters in the bathrooms, cleaned all the mirrors in the bathrooms, fed Ayla dinner, gave Ayla a bath, read to Ayla and put her to bed, removed the old microwave and installed the new one, mowed the lawn, watered the plants and grass, cleaned the oven, wiped the kitchen counter tops, reinforced the ceiling fan in our bedroom and ate dinner at 8."
Me: "WOW, thank you so much for doing all that. But I totally feel like an inadequate wife"
Steve: "Babe, I don't want you doing this stuff. You're pregnant. I want you to relax and how about a I massage your back and rub your feet tonight?"
Ok seriously, isn't he just the greatest! I know what you're thinking. "What does he want in return for all his hard work?" Believe me when I tell you that he wants nothing. NOTHING! Because of some pregnancies issues I've been on "pelvic rest" for 7 weeks now. So clearly he can't have that. All Steve wants is that I appreciate and acknowledge him. Which I very much do.
Steve loves it when people notice what he's done. By that I mean by what he's built. The guy can put together anything. He's never been trained or has taken any classes. He rarely reads a manual. To him it all makes sense. His background includes working at "The BK" as a tike, serving over 10 years in the Navy on submarines, real estate agent and currently he's working as an engineer for the government. No where in there does it mention a carpenter or builder of any sort. But you give him a hammer and nails and magically he's built you an arc! I think he's watched the movie Field of Dreams to many times and he's always hearing the voice "If you build it they will come". Some of his most recent projects include building two decks, a fence, a bar and a shed. And now he's getting ready to put together Ayla's play set. Which I cannot wait for.

We've lived in our house for about a year and a half and Steve actually helped with building this house. I never want to move for all the things he's done to our house. I love my husband for all that he's done and all that he does to give us this great life. This June 4th will be our 3rd anniversary and I love this journey we're on and can't wait to see where our boat sails next.
